Critics and film-goers took to Twitter to criticize Rohit Shetty’s directorial film Cirkus. Film critic and trade analyst, Taran Adarsh called the movie outdated and rated it two stars out of five. He wrote that the film lacks the entertainment and humor expected from Rohit Shetty’s films, has some humorous scenes in the second half but the spark is missing.
It was rumored that Rohit Shetty had a remake of the film Angoor in mind and approached Shah Rukh Khan. Khan turned down the proposal and went with Chennai Express. After many years, Rohit Shetty went through with the idea with Ranveer Singh.
Film reviewer and Youtuber Yogi Baba dubbed the movie as overacting in the name of acting, oversaturation in the name of colors, cringe in the name of comedy, and confusion in the name of the plot. While another viewer said that the unused scenes from the film Angoor together would make a better film than Cirkus.
The film has received negative reviews ever since the release of the trailer. The three-and-a-half-minute trailer was unbearable and failed to create hype for the film. The trailer itself looked confused and failed to convey what is the film about to be going on. The trailer seemed confused by itself and failed to convey what the film is going to be about.
Even the talented cast of Sanjay Mishra, Johnny Lever, Brijendra Kala, Siddarth Jadhav, Mukesh Tiwari, Murali Sharma, and Aswini Kalsekar failed to save the film. Not a single scene of them can be described as comical and hilarious.
Despite the Christmas holiday weekend and no competition, Cirkus is tumbling over the box office collection. Even with the mass support from Rohit Shetty fans, the film is expected to earn between 50-60 crores.
