Ludhiana Congress MP Ravneet Singh Bittu joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday in the presence of party leader Vinod Tawde ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. This came after two former members of the Legislative Assembly, Gurpreet Singh GP and Raj Kumar Chabbewal, switched parties in less than three weeks.
Ravneet Singh Bittu comes from a political background. He was part of the 27-member Punjab unit’s Pradesh election committee, set up in January. Bittu is the grandson of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh, who died in a terror attack in 1995. He is also the son of former Punjab minister Tej Parkash Singh.
Ravneet Singh Bittu joined just hours after the BJP announced it would contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections alone in Punjab.
I am thankful to PM Narendra Modi…I can say with confidence that PM Modi and the Union Home Minister share a lot of love for Punjab and they wish to do a lot for the state…Why should Punjab be left behind?…
Ravneet Singh Bittu stated
The Ludhiana MP stated at a press conference in New Delhi that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have a lot of love and affection for Punjab. He further praised the role of the BJP and the RSS in working for peace in the days of terrorism in the state.
Vinod Tawde, the general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party, praised Ravneet. Vinod stated that Ravneet’s presence in the party would make the party stronger.
