The wait is finally over. Tamil movie “Coolie” has roared into theatres from August 14, 2025, and the buzz is electrifying. Released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi, the film is also a celebration of Rajinikanth’s 50 years in cinema.
Coolie film is directed by Tollywood’s one of the best directors, Lokesh Kanagaraj, who has given several hits like Kaithi, Master, and Vikram. And Coolie is produced by Kalanithi Maran, the prominent producer of Sun Pictures.
The Coolie’s visual is shot by IMAX-certified cameras, which makes it the first Tamil cinema of this kind. The movie combined action, emotion, and lots of drama.
Fans have given a 4.1 rating and are loving the new grey-haired Rajini, punchy dialogues, and the evergreen Rajnikanth’ swagger.
Rajinikanth plays Deva, a former coolie leader who now runs a boarding house. He is calm and caring, loved by everyone at the port. But when a dangerous gold-smuggling gang led by Simon (Nagarjuna) starts taking advantage of the workers, Deva can’t just watch. He jumps back into action with courage, clever plans, and thrilling stunts.
The movie is full of action and excitement. Deva goes undercover, faces tough battles, and fights to protect the innocent. Meanwhile, it also highlights his inner challenges and emotional scenes and makes the story more realistic. People are getting surprised cameo of Aamir Khan, the comic act of Soubin Shahir, and emotional parts of Shruti Haasan, which are bringing heart and humor to the movie.
Coolie is a suspenseful movie with the speeding chasing scenes, a huge number of fights and hook-ups, keeping you on your toes. All these scenes have Rajinikanth’s style, dialogues, and hero energy, and thus, it is a complete entertainer for both older and younger fans.
Bookings crossed ₹100 crore worldwide even before release, setting a Tamil cinema record. Ticket prices in Chennai touched ₹4,500 and are still sold out.
Companies in India and Singapore declared holidays and offered free tickets so employees could attend first-day-first-shows. Theatres hosted midnight and 4 AM screenings with fan rituals, fireworks, and dancing.
Some posters were compared to Hollywood hits like Glass and Rebel Moon. There was also a minor discussion about title similarity with an older Malayalam film. But neither dampened audience excitement.
Releasing alongside War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, Coolie dominated advance sales and hype, particularly in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and overseas markets. War 2 drew strong business in Telugu states but faced stiffer competition overall.
Analysts call this one of the biggest Independence Day weekend clashes in recent memory.
Coolie is full-on entertainment. Rajinikanth’s charm lights up every scene. Theatres are buzzing with cheers and whistles. The story is familiar, but fans don’t care. They love the action, the style, and the energy. Many call it a festival on screen. For them, it is a perfect tribute to their superstar.
