Recent updates say that Damian Lewis is going to exit Billions after around 5 seasons of his role.
On the Showtime series, Lewis played the role of Bobby Axelrod, aka Axe, which aired the finale of Season 5 on Sunday night. Showtime has said that the sixth season for the series is going to be live on Jan 23rd, 2022 and a trailer will be released before that only. The news comes about the year to the day after the network announced the renewal for the sixth season.
Thank you @SHO_Billions thank you @briankoppelman @DavidLevien. A pleasure and a privilege to play Axe for 5 seasons with some of the smartest, funniest most talented cast and crew I’ve worked with. I’ll miss the Billions family. Yep, some jobs are more than just a job…. Love.

On Monday morning, Lewis wrote something on Twitter. He says a big thanks to @SHO_Billions @briankoppelman @DavidLevien. Lewis says that it was a pleasure and privilege to play the role of Axe in the first five seasons of the Billions. He is thankful to the smart, funny and most talented cast and crew as well. Additionally, he says that I am going to miss the family of Billions as some jobs are more than just a job. Thank you all he says at the end.
Paul Giamatti, Corey Stoll and Maggie Siff are the ones who will return there in the sixth season while Daniel Breaker has been upped to series regular. The network says that the upcoming season is going to show that Axe is gone and Michael Prince assumes his place.
Furthermore, Chuck is going to have a new strategy that is keener and more sophisticated. Stoll joined the show as a guest star but was a new threat to Axe. Showtime announced last year only that this is the character that is going to be their regular in the upcoming seasons. Hence, this is not the first Showtime series that Lewis has departed but there are many more.
