‘i’m Out Of Here’: Celebs On The Takeover Of Twitter By Elon Musk

Celebrities are leaving or claiming they are, Twitter over the acquisition of Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk.

“I’m out of here”, This Is Us executive producer Ken Olin declared over his pledge, “The day @elonmusk takes ownership of Twitter, I’m out.” He has over 300,000 followers on Twitter. He is going to try Tribel noting, “No judgement. Let’s keep the faith. Let’s protect our democracy. Let’s try to be kinder. Let’s try to save the planet. Let’s try to be more generous. Let’s look to find peace in the world.”

On 27th Oct, Elon Musk closed the deal with Twitter and took control of the Social Media platform, and announced himself as a “Chief twit”. Elon Musk posted an open letter on Twitter stating that Twitter won’t become a “free-for-all hellscape, where anything can be said with no consequences”. He bought the platform to “help humanity”.

Despite the vow of making the platform more open to a wider range of speech and making changes in the content moderation algorithms, many celebs are not happy with the takeover.

“Y’all’s, for real, come find me over on Instagram and the tok. Gonna really try to take a breather from here for a minute or a month come a close time”, Billions showrunner Brian Koppelman tweeted.

The Rounders writer tweeted,” I can see the logic in taking a long Twitter hiatus when EM takes it over.”

Yet some are encouraging people to leave Twitter, Director, and Activist Rob Riener Tweeted,” For those who are fighting to preserve our Constitutional Democracy, now is not the time to leave Twitter. Now is the time to VOTE BLUE!”. Rainer had previously expressed concerns about the acquisition of the platform by Elon Musk.

Many famous figures who pledged to leave the platform changed their tone and decided to stay on Twitter.

Mia Farrow previously said that she will flee from the platform if it becomes more toxic under Elon Musk. Later she deleted the Tweet and wrote,” You gave us Tesla ♥️ and SpaceX♥️👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽. Thank you!  Hope you can keep Twitter worthy of your previous achievements and of lawful people everywhere.”

Some users compare the protest of celebs leaving the platform to the protest against Donald Trump. They declared to leave the USA if Donald Trump was elected, and they ended up staying in the United States.
