I recently came across some clips of Mahavatar Narsimha, and it looked absolutely terrific, in a good way. The film shows the story of a young boy named Prahlad, who has a deep faith in Lord Vishnu. He is the son of the demon king Hiranyakashipu. The movie is about the clash between the father and son and how Lord Narasimha protects his devotee. If you’re wondering whether this animated film is worth your time, here’s a closer look.
Mahavatar Narsimha was released on July 25, 2025. It came out first in Telugu. Mahavatar Narsimha also supports Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam languages. It is directed by Ashwin Kumar, also the director of the Oscar-nominated short film “Little Terrorist”, and produced by Shilpaa Dhawan.
The film beautifully blends 2D and 3D animations, giving the story both a classical charm and a modern, dynamic feel. Every scene looks detailed and full of emotion. From temples to battles, everything feels alive. The artists worked hard to make it look divine and realistic at the same time. “The visuals and music gave me goosebumps,” one viewer said.
The music in the film strongly matches its storyline. The signer of the most loved title song is Aparna Harikumar, and the song is composed by Vyasdeva and Jayadeva Goswami. The Voice of Narshimha is a mix of 8-9 animals, and the entry song of Narshimha gave goosebumps as it blends perfectly with the ancient Sanskrit verses (shloks).
The voice of Lord Narasimha sounds bold and powerful. The voice of Prahlad is soft and full of faith. Here are some of the voices behind the characters:
| Character | Voice Artist |
| Lord Narsimha | Harjeet Walia |
| Prahlad | Haripriya Matta |
| Hiranyakashipu | Aditya Raj Sharma |
| Narrator | Sanket Jaiswal |
| Kayadhu | Priyanka Bhandari |
| Diti & Lakshmi | Vasundhra Bose |
| Lord Vishnu | Uplaksh Kochhar |
| Supporting Roles | Sanchit Wartak, Saanwari Yagnik, Dinesh Varma, Ajay Singhal, and others |
This film tells the famous story of Prahlad and Lord Narasimha. Prahlad’s father wanted people to regard him as a god. Despite whatever his father tried to do to him, Prahlad never gave up his faith in Lord Vishnu. At last, Lord Vishnu came in an avatar of half man and half lion as Narasimha to destroy this evil.
We’ve all heard this story before. But seeing it in this animation style makes it more entertaining for audiences of all ages.
Mahavatar Narsimha, made with just ₹15 crore, but the animation, lighting, and sound are surprisingly excellent and make the movie look rich and polished.
On its first day, the movie grossed around ₹1.75 crore in India. In 10 days, it crossed ₹91 crore in India and over ₹112 crore worldwide. In just 10 days, the Hindi version alone has earned over ₹67.25 crore. That makes it India’s highest-grossing animated movie so far.
It’s not just for kids or religious viewers. It’s for anyone who enjoys meaningful stories and animations. The story connects with many and has made a huge fan base all over the world. It connects the people with spirituality and displays the importance of faith. Some people say, “This is how our culture should be shown.”
The way the story is told feels fresh, yet rooted in something deep. Even if you’re not into mythology, it still connects. It’s one of those films that feels special.
