Dilraj was a bright student while he was in school until the 8th grade, when he slowly began to lose interest in his studies. He scored 65.17 percent in his 10th and 12th grades and 60 percent after appearing for his compartment exam for mathematics and chemistry.
After he completed his schooling, he chose not to study further and began doing odd jobs to earn money. He performed jobs such as a carpenter, vegetable vendor, welder, and daily wage laborer.
