Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, the founder of the Isha Foundation and a well-known spiritual teacher, suffered brain swelling and bleeding; he underwent emergency brain surgery at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals in New Delhi. The physicians reported that he is presently recovering nicely.
The hospital reported that Sadhguru had been experiencing extreme headaches for the past four weeks. He carried on with his regular routines and social interactions even though he was ill; on March 8, he even organized a Maha Shivratri event.
Sadhguru uploaded a video on his Instagram account from his hospital bed. He stated in light humor,
The Apollo Hospital neurosurgeons cut through my skull to try and find something but found nothing—empty. So they gave up and patched it up. Here I am in Delhi with a patched-up skull but no damaged brain.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a word with the spiritual leader and wished him a speedy recovery.
Spoke to @SadhguruJV Ji and wished him good health and a speedy recovery,
Modi said in a post on X (formally Twitter).
While replying to PM Modi’s message, Sadhguru thanked him for his concern and wrote,
A subdural hematoma was suspected by Dr. Vinit Suri, who recommended an immediate MRI. At 4:30 p.m. on March 15, Sadhguru had an MRI of his brain performed at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, which revealed extensive brain bleeding.
There were indications of recent 24-48-hour bleeding as well as a persistent bleed lasting 3–4 weeks. Although Sadhguru was told to go to the hospital right away, he had to attend the India Today Conclave on March 16 at 6 p.m.
Dr. Suri claims that Sadhguru said,
I have never missed a single meeting in my last 40 years,
and that even though he was experiencing excruciating agony, he managed to finish the meeting above with the use of medications.
According to Dr. Suri, on March 17, when Sadhguru finally agreed to admission, he mentioned,
Now is the time for you to perform the procedure.
