Scream Movie: A Much Awaited Release On Netflix

The film will not be available on Netflix in the United States very soon, if at all.

Netflix has a special relationship with the Scream franchise since it owns the global rights to the MTV TV show. The rights for the TV show are murky, as we’ll see in a moment. All three seasons of Scream are exclusively accessible on Netflix in the United States as of January 2022. Seasons 1 and 2 are available in all other areas where the show is billed as a Netflix Original.

Scream films are frequently licenced to Netflix across the world, however as of January 2022, only Scream 4 is accessible on Netflix, and it is currently only available in the United Kingdom.

As previously stated, the Scream series has had various proprietors, and Scream 5 is no exception. The franchise rights were sold to Spyglass Media Group, who is distributing the fifth film alongside Paramount. Dimension Films has already distributed all of the prior films.

In June 2020, the franchise’s fifth instalment was revealed.

Melissa Barrera, Mason Gooding, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, and Marley Shelton feature in the film, which is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.

Will Scream 5 be available on Netflix in the US?

The most honest response is no. The film is released by Paramount, which is owned by ViacomCBS and, with the exception of strategic licencing with their television series, keeps their films to themselves.

Throughout the epidemic, Paramount cut their initial window to 45 days, and Scream 5 is set to follow suit. In that situation, Scream 5 will debut on Paramount+ on February 27th, 2022.

While Paramount still licences movies to Netflix, the majority of their recent collection is only available through Paramount+. We’ve also seen that several of their older films have been leased out to services like Hulu and Amazon Prime.

Will Scream be available on Netflix in other countries?

Many Netflix areas still get Paramount films, although it’s generally a year to several years after the film’s initial release in theatres. When it comes to Sonic the Hedgehog, Paramount’s huge early 2020 picture, the movie was released in 24 Netflix areas between September and November 2021.

Assuming the same broad partnerships remain in place, many Netflix areas should be able to see the programme by the end of 2023, while other regions, including as Canada, will see the film.

Of course, all of this is speculation, so we’ll keep you updated as we discover more.
