Stranger Things Video Game lets us feel the nostalgia of games we played in our childhood(90s kids). The game bears an old-school arcade theme with an open-world structure. The story, characters, and gameplay all are adopted from the original source material, that is the third season of Netflix’s show Stranger Things.
The plot closely resembles the show. I suggest watching the show first, if you haven’t already, before starting the game. Few things in the game are better explored than in the show. Since the game was completely taken from the show, it shares the same lack of emotional impact.
Though it is better than many other retro-themed games like Scooby Doo, Rugrats, and SpongeBob games. These games damaged the reputation of tie-in games.
The Stranger Things video game 3 is available for PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Switch for $19.99. The game was developed by Bonus XP and published by Netflix on 4 July 2019.
The story revolves around Hawkin’s new Starcourt mall. Foreign investors made shady real estate deals and set up a secret lab in order to access another dimension. As a result, a lot of dreaded creatures spawned in our world.
All the characters have different powers and different styles of attack. If you are playing alone, you can switch between two characters at any time according to your need. And if you are playing with a friend, then you both can access different characters on the split screen.
The second player can join anytime, even in the middle of the game by just turning on the second controller. As soon as the controller is turned on, the screen splits in two and both players can access two different directions at the same time. If the second player wants to quit the game in the middle, the AI will take over. You can command your AI partner to follow, wait and use special abilities.

Critics rated the Stranger Things video game pretty low. They said it was a decent throwback to the bygone era. Other critics commented that the retro charm can’t hide the dull design of the game.
If you are not a fan of Stranger Things, there is nothing for you in the game. The game looks especially made for die-hard fans of the show. The game has some technical issues which restrict it to be a great game. Although, for the fans of the show, it’s pretty enjoyable. The game manages to follow the original storyline with few new elements. Some things are only accessible with specific characters. Which makes this 8-hour-long arcade game pretty much playable. The light-weight combat and repetitive missions make the game stretchy and boring. But you will surely enjoy fighting the bosses which get bigger and stronger with each level.
