From the current updates, it has been found that Facebook is changing a rule that prohibits users from calling out violence in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. This is the change that was reported by Reuters and they said that this is the change that is going to allow the people in Ukraine and a handful of other countries to call out violence against the Russian soldiers and Russians. People in Ukraine, Poland, and Russia are permitted to call the death of Russian President Vladimir Putin or Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
Probing further, a spokesperson from Facebook Andy Stone said in a statement that we as a company are temporarily allowing the people to post that in the past would have been taken down under the company’s rules. He also adds that the company is not going to tolerate any of the credible calls for violence against Russian civilians. The company is going to take down all of the specific credible threats against Putin and Lukashenko. Therefore, these are the news that has been found according to the memo of Reuters.
As the result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Facebook says that we have temporarily made allowances for forms of political expression. This is going to violate our rules like violent speech such as the death of Russian invaders and many more. Hence, this is all that is going to be there after Facebook temporarily lets the people of Ukraine call violence.
