Zakir Khan was born in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on August 20, 1987. He belongs to a musically inclined Rajasthani Muslim family. Ustad Moinuddin Khan, his grandfather, was a well-known Sarangi (an instrument) player. Zakir worked in music and pursued a diploma in Sitar before his journey as a comedian. He always tells how his father supported him in his career.
Zakir Khan’s career started in 2012, after he won the show India’s Best Standup, which was organized by Comedy Central (an American cable channel). His work also includes ghostwriting and producing radio shows. Many of us know him from his punchline, “Sakht Launda”.
He has represented his poetry in many events. Some of his iconic poems are “Mai Soonya Pe Sawar Hoon”, “Apne Aap Ke Bhi Piche Khara Hoon Main”, and “Bus Ka Intezar Karte Huye”. In 2015, he co-hosted and wrote a show with AIB (a YouTube-famous comedy company). In the 5th season of The Great Indian Laughter Challenge 2017 (an Indian reality stand-up comedy series), he was one of the mentors.
He has more than seven million subscribers on YouTube. He also wrote and starred in the web series Chacha Vidhayak Hain Humare (Indian comedy television series). His iconic stand-up shows available on Amazon Prime are Haq Se Single (2017), Kaksha Gyarvi (2018), Tathastu (2022), Mannpasand (2023), and Delulu Express (2025). Recently, he became the first comedian to perform a Hindi comedy show at Madison Square Garden in New York.

His superhit comedy shows, YouTube videos, and over-the-top (OTT) specials account for the majority of his revenue. He is talented in acting, writing, and producing, in addition to comedy.
