Zepto, a quick commerce company, introduces a platform fee of Rs 2 per order, and this will only be applicable to a select set of users. Zepto’s competitors, Swiggy, Instamart, and Zomato-owned Blinkit, do not levy a platform fee on grocery orders.
However, Blinkit and Swiggy Instamart charge a platform fee for food delivery orders. All these companies charge a nominal fee of Rs 2 and increase in rush hours to even Rs 10 to gain from a surge in demand. Zepto can also charge a high fee in the future.
In addition to levying a platform fee on customers, Zepto is also collecting a late-night handling fee of ₹15 on orders placed after 11 p.m. in certain cases. Delivery charges now range between ₹5 and ₹28. Previously, deliveries were free for cart values above ₹99 or ₹199, depending on the customer’s transaction value.
We don’t believe in being over-dependent on delivery fees to be profitable. We believe in core operating efficiency and cost reduction to be profitable. We are on track to achieve the EBITDA positive milestone, even with much lower delivery fees- Zepto Pass is the quintessential example of this.
Zepto stated as per Money Control’s report.
He said that the company’s profit is not dependent on delivery fees, and they believe in core operating efficiency and reducing costs for profits.
Zepto holds a market share of approximately 20%, making it the third-largest participant in the fast commerce space. Analysts at Bernstein stated in research from January that Swiggy Instamart is at 37–39 percent and Zomato’s Blinkit is at 40 percent.
