Career

After completing his master’s, Divyakirti became an assistant professor at the University of Delhi. Later, he made his first attempt at the UPSC Civil Services Examination and cleared the exam as well. He secured the All India rank of 384 in 1996.

Vikas Divyakirti completed his training at the Institute of Secretariat Training and Management. He also served at the Department of Official Language in the Ministry of Home Affairs as a section officer in New Delhi.

In 1999, he resigned from the post and founded the Drishti IAS Coaching Institute in Mukherjee Nagar, Delhi. 

In 2022, Divyakirti started his YouTube channel, wherein he uploads educational videos.

• Dr. Vikas Divyakirti’s father wanted him to become a politician, so he became a member of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidharthi Parishad (ABVP).
• During his first year of college, he became popular and actively participated in the national agitation against the Mandal Commission formed under the former prime minister of India, Moraraji Ranchhodji Desai.
• He did several odd jobs due to the financial crisis while he was in his first year of college. He also worked at a printing press and started a small business with his brother.
• He also contested and won the Resident Welfare Association election in his locality in Delhi.
• He is the author of a book, ‘Nibandh Drishti.’
• Vikas is the editor of the Current Affairs monthly magazine ‘Drishti Current Affairs Today.’
• In 1999, when he started Drishti IAS Coaching Institute, he gained fame and appreciation for his teaching style. He revealed that he was rejected for the post of  Hindi lecturer at Shivaji College, Delhi University. In the beginning, he struggled and managed to borrow a sum of Rs 15,000 from a friend, get chairs, and rent a space to run his coaching institute. The first batch consisted of around 12-15 students.
