Overview of Dune

Dune is set in the far distant future, when House Atreides, the family of the highly talented Paul Atreides, is sent to run the affairs of Arrakis, a forbidding desert planet, the sole provider of spice melange. It is a seeming honour but actually a political ploy; the Emperor joins House Harkonnen in destroying the Atreides. Paul and his mother, Lady Jessica, flee after an appalling betrayal and attack in the desert, where they meet. The Fremen, and Paul starts to challenge his visions, his destiny, and his growing attraction to Arrakis.

Dune: Part Two

This is a sequel to Dune in which Paul Atreides embarks upon a life of hiding out amongst the Fremen of Arrakis with his mother, Lady Jessica, after the destruction of House Atreides. Because not all fans hate every change to the source material, no matter what. Especially when some of these changes are for the better.
I haven’t read the books, but I’ve taken in a lot of Dune lore since the first movie, and is it just me or is the plot not nearly as complex as some have tried to make it seem?
Dune Part 1 and 2 would have needed to be 6 hours each to capture everything the first book had to offer.
Dune is an extremely dense story. What they did was wonderful.
