Overview of Ramayana: Part 1

It is the story of the early life and adventures of Ayodhya’s rightful heir, the virtuous prince Rama, who proves his courage by defeating the demoness Tataka under the tutelage of sage Vishvamitra. Rama’s ascent to the throne is suddenly halted by intrigues in the palace after he wins the hand of Princess Sita. He marries by stringing Lord Shiva’s divine bow at Mithila’s swayamvara.

Fulfilling his father’s old promises to Rama, proposed by Queen Kaikeyi, involves a 14-year banishment into the Dandaka Forest, with Rama’s wife Sita and brother Lakshmana. They live peacefully in the woods, but Ravana, the king of Lanka, plans to abduct Sita with the help of a golden deer, forcing the exiled prince and his brother to set out on a desperate search to save her, thereby setting off the impending war.

Release Date of Ramayana: Part 1

Ramayana: Part 1 will release on two different dates for International and Indian releases. On 6 November 2026, it will be released internationally, and on 8 November 2026 in India. Ramayana: Part 1 is set to hit the theatres first.

The film is based on the Ramayana by Valmiki. The film’s trailer began campaigning with exclusive screenings at the San Diego Comic-Con on 23 July and “Pratham Sankalp” at the famous New Delhi film circuits on 18 July. It was due for release globally on 24 July but was postponed before its official launch. A modified English-language version was published soon thereafter on 5 August 2026, with lip-synced audio and a few minor visual changes.

I like these types of stories better as animated. I feel a waste to see it go in theaters when I already know the whole story
I honestly expected it to look bad. But it surpassed my expectations. I will probably watch this one in theaters.
For the first time, it felt fresh to see Ravana in his journey rather than just seeing him casually sitting on the throne throughout the entire series or movies as before until the end saga!
