Beyond the Spotlight: The Evolution of Karan Mehra’s Legacy.
Karan Mehra is an actor and fashion designer who predominantly works in the Hindi entertainment industry. He rose to fame after being featured in the popular daily soap Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, wherein he played the lead role of Naitik.
Karan was born on 10 September 1982 (age 42 years; as of 2025) in Jalandhar, Punjab. Brought up by businessman Ajay Mehra and Bella Mehra in Noida, Karan was fascinated by the entertainment industry since childhood.
Karan is known to be an academically good student and was a school house captain. After completing his schooling at Apeejay School, Noida, the actor decided to pursue a career in the fashion industry. He attended the National Institute of Fashion Technology, where he obtained a Diploma in Fashion Designing.
The popular TV actor, during the initial days of his career, worked as a fashion designer for a firm in Delhi. Later, to excel in his fashion-designing career, Karan relocated to Mumbai. Although Karan had an established fashion career, his fascination with acting initiated him to shift his career. So, to pursue a career in acting, he attended Kishore Namit Acting Institute, Mumbai, where he did an acting course.
Before venturing into acting, Karan worked as an assistant director with Rajkumar Hirani. He has also worked under the famous film director Ram Gopal Verma.
In 2008, Karan made his acting debut in the film Love Story 2050; however, he played an uncredited role in the movie. Subsequently, he was featured in a few small-scale commercials. In 2009, Karan became a household name after he was featured in the role of Naitik Singhania in the Star Plus show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai.
Besides TV serials, Karan has participated in various famous reality shows like Nach Baliye Season 5 (2012), Nach Baliye Shriman v/s Shrimati (2013), Bigg Boss 10 (2016), and Zee Punjabi Antakshari (2021).
Karan, once admired as the ideal husband on screen, faced harsh criticism in real life due to a highly publicized fallout with his wife, Nisha Rawal.
Amid the nationwide lockdown in 2021, Karan was arrested from his house after his wife, Nisha filed a domestic violence complaint. Nisha accused Karan aka Naitik of thrashing her after a fight between them. Not just this, but Nisha also accused Mehra of having an extramarital affair. However, later the actor was granted bail.
Since the 2021 incident, the couple frequently makes headlines about their ugly relationship. Recently, Karan, during a media interaction, opened up about how he is not allowed to meet his son. He also accused Nisha of having several extra-marital affairs.
Karan is an established name in the entertainment industry. He is known for playing major roles in several TV shows like Saath Nibhaana Saathiya (2016), Khatmal E Ishq (2017), and Shubharambh (2020). According to a media source, Mehra’s updated net worth (as of 2025) is approximately INR 41 Crores.
In 2009, Mehra announced buying his first car, Honda City ZMD. Besides this, he also owns a BMW car.
Kavish currently resides with his mother, Nisha Rawal. As of 2025, neither parent holds full legal custody.
