PM Modi Inaugurates Sudarshan Setu, Visits Dwarka

PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the country’s longest four-lane cable-stayed bridge, Sudarshan Setu, which is 2.32 km long the Arabian Sea and connects Beyt Dwarka island to mainland Okha in Gujarat’s Devbhumi Dwarka District.

The bridge is 27.20 metres wide, with 2.50-metre-wide footpaths on each side. PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the bridge in October 2017. The cost of making the bridge is ₹979 crore. The bridge, Sudarshan Setu, consists of the verses of the Bhagavad Gita and images of Lord Krishna on both sides.

PM Modi started the day by offering prayers at the Dwarkadhish Temple before the inauguration of the bridge. Earlier, the bridge was called ‘Signature Bridge’ but was later renamed ‘Sudarshan Setu’, which connects Okha and Beyt Dwarka island.

Sharing the news of ‘Sudarshan Setu’ being inaugurated, along with pictures of him cutting the ribbon of the bridge.

Also, PM Modi dived into the Arabian Sea off the coast of Gujarat and went underwater to perform the puja in Dwarka. Dwarka was known to be a city that was submerged under the sea and was related to Lord Krishna. PM Modi also offered peacock feathers as a symbolic tribute to Lord Krishna.

There are facilities available to perform activities like scuba diving off the coast of Dwarka, which is near Beyt Dwarka Island. People can see the remains of ancient Dwarka under the water that were excavated by archaeologists.
