Shah Rukh Khan has finally done it. He has won the first National Award for Best Actor for Jawan, which was released in 2023. He shared this award with Vikrant Massey for 12th Fail.
In Jawan, SRK played two different roles. One was a brave vigilante soldier. The other was his determined prison-born son. The jury praised his performance. They called it a mix of power and emotion.
Vikrant Massey won an award as the best actor portraying IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma in 12th Fail. The movie is based on the story of a man who beats all sorts of problems and barriers and clears the highly-acclaimed UPSC exams.
The news brought celebrations in the film industry. Kajol, Deepika Padukone, Farah Khan, AR Rahman, and Anil Kapoor sent him their wishes. Actress Divya Dutta said she was very happy for him. She said a National Award can change how the industry sees an actor.
Fans also celebrated online. Many said SRK should have won long ago. They pointed to films like Swades and Chak De India. Actress Urvashi questioned the jury’s choices. She asked why Vijayaraghavan got Best Supporting Actor while SRK was Best Actor.
Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar asked everyone to respect the jury. He said judging is not easy and involves many factors.
