Supriya Shrinate’s post on Kangana’s debut sparks backlash.

On Monday, Congress leader Supriya Shrinate made an objectionable post on Kangana Ranaut over the electoral debut of the actress. The post sparked controversy, and the National Commission of Women demanded strict action against the politician.

Supriya took to Instagram with a picture of Kangana Ranaut and wrote, “Can someone tell me what is the current rate in Mandi (market)?” 

Actress Kangana Ranaut is all set to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on the BJP’s ticket from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh.

Kangana took to X and replied to the post made against her. The actress wrote, “Dear Supriya ji, in the last 20 years of my career as an artist, I have played all kinds of women. From a naive girl in Queen to a seductive spy in Dhaakad, from a goddess in Manikarnika to a demon in Chandramukhi, from a prostitute in Rajjo to a revolutionary leader in Thalaivii.”

She added, “We must free our daughters from the shackles of prejudice. We must rise above the curiosity about their body parts. Most importantly, we must stop using the difficult lives of sex workers as insults or slurs. Every woman deserves her dignity.”

Later, Supriya Shrinate clarified in a video and stated “Many people have access to my Facebook and Instagram accounts. Someone from them made an extremely inappropriate post today. As soon as I came to know, I deleted that post. Everyone who knows me, also knows very well that I can never make personal and indecent comments towards any woman.” 

Ms Shrinate stated that everyone knows her and that she cannot make such an objectionable post, especially against a woman. She blamed a fake account using her name for making the post, which was later copied to her Instagram and Facebook. She further said that her team is trying to find out who is responsible for this action. Ms Shrinate has also reported her fake account to X.
