Season one was based on a psychological thriller about the author Aggie Wings (Claire Danes), who could not write after the loss of her son. She became obsessed with her new mysterious neighbor, a rich real estate developer, Nile Jarvis (Matthew Rhys), a former suspect in the disappearance of his wife. She begins a book about his life, a game of darkness. Then she forms her own trauma, the theme of truth and darkness.
