Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced a reduction of Rs 100 in the cooking gas cylinder on account of Women’s Day.

PM Modi made the announcement on X, stating that this will lessen the financial burden on millions of households across the country and will especially benefit “Our Nari Shakti.” He further stated in the post that, by making cooking gas more affordable, the government aims to support the wellbeing of families and provide a healthier environment. He added that this is his commitment to empower women and ensure  ‘Ease of Living’ for them.

In Delhi, a 14.2 kg cooking gas cylinder costs approximately 900 rupees, or $11. At the same time, the government declared on Thursday that it will extend the duration of the Ujjwala Yojana’s ₹ 300 per LPG cylinder subsidy to poor women for the upcoming fiscal year, which begins on April 1.

The government increased the subsidy to ₹ 300 per bottle in October of last year, from ₹ 200 for 14.2-kg cylinders with up to 12 refills annually. The subsidy of ₹ 300 per cylinder was offered for the current fiscal year, which concludes on March 31.

In another post on X, PM Modi greeted people on International Women’s Day.

We salute the strength, courage, and resilience of our Nari Shakti and laud their accomplishments across various fields. Our government is committed to empowering women through initiatives in education, entrepreneurship, agriculture, technology and more.

PM Modi praised the women out there for their strength and courage, and he committed to empowering women through various initiatives in education, entrepreneurship, agriculture, technology and more.
This action was trolled by the opposition parties. Congress spokesperson Surendra Rajput said:

The BJP is a very clever party. They sell (LPG) cylinders of ₹395 at ₹1000 and then PM Modi makes an announcement of reducing it by ₹100.
