Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced a Rs 100 Cut In Gas Cylinder on account of Women’s Day.
PM Modi announcement on X, stating that this will lessen the financial burden on millions of households across the country and will especially benefit “Our Nari Shakti.” He further stated in the post that, by making cooking gas more affordable, the government aims to support the well-being of families and provide a healthier environment. He added that this is his commitment to empower women and ensure ‘Ease of Living’ for them.
In Delhi, a 14.2 kg cooking gas cylinder costs approximately 900 rupees, or $11. At the same time, the government declared on Thursday that it will extend the duration of the Ujjwala Yojana’s ₹ 300 per LPG cylinder subsidy to poor women for the upcoming fiscal year, which begins on April 1.
The government increased the subsidy to ₹ 300 per bottle in October of last year, from ₹ 200 for 14.2-kg cylinders with up to 12 refills annually. The government offered a ₹300 subsidy per cylinder for the current fiscal year, which concludes on March 31.

The opposition parties trolled this action. Congress spokesperson Surendra Rajput said:
The BJP is a very clever party. They sell (LPG) cylinders of ₹395 at ₹1000, and then PM Modi makes an announcement of reducing it by ₹100.
