The latest editorial from Samsung, titled “Welcome to the Era of Mobile AI,” states that artificial intelligence is the most transformative technology of this century. Dr. TM Roh, President and Head of MX Business at Samsung Electronics, states in the editorial,

Few engineers get the chance to be involved in something with such seismic potential. It brings great change, not only for Samsung and the mobile industry, but for all humankind. When integrated into phones, AI, is to put it simply, a revolution.

Talking about his career, Dr. Roh said, “Developing the Galaxy S24 series has been the most rewarding period of my career. As an engineer, I have witnessed many examples of incredible innovations, but AI is the most transformative technology of the century.” Notably, Galaxy AI will soon be made available on devices other than smartphones, and Samsung will use the AI technology to improve the users’ experience when it comes to digital health on Samsung wearable devices.

In January 2024, Samsung launched the smartphones for the Galaxy S24 series. The smartphones were built with Galaxy AI features, which can translate calls in real-time, generate wallpaper, chat with an assistant, and perform many other tasks. Moreover, Samsung recently introduced AI features to the Galaxy Buds2 and the Buds2 Pro. It has also been confirmed that the AI features will soon be added to the S23 series, S23 FE, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, and Tab S9 via a software update. Not only this, the Galaxy AI capabilities will be free to users until 2025.

According to the Samsung editorial, AI technology is a game changer for mobiles, and AI will be widely used in upcoming mobile phones. Dr. Roh mentioned, “Galaxy AI helps people communicate beyond borders, complete everyday tasks easily, and so much more.” However, he added, “AI models in training are still susceptible to hallucinations, and the debate on intellectual property rights continues.”
