The San Francisco artificial intelligence startup, OpenAI, announced that it has introduced new features to ChatGPT. Now, it will memorise the information provided by the user from the previous conversation to provide better results for the prompts entered by them.

For example, if a user mentions basic details about her family, like her daughter Lina, who is turning five, loves the colour pink, and likes jellyfish. Later, if the same user asks the bot to create a birthday card for her daughter, the bot will use the memorised information about Lina and provide a card that says Happy 5th Birthday, Lina, with pink jellyfish on the card.
Last year, the company allowed its users to share personal information, preferences, and basic details about their families while having a conversation with the chatbot. The company’s language models will also use the memory feature. However, the company assures users that it won’t share their information with developers. Each bot will maintain its own memory, and it won’t share information with other bots.
Regular ChatGPT users and Plus members, who pay $20 a month, can access this technology. They can ask the bot what it has stored from the conversation, request it to delete all memorized data, or turn off the memory feature.
By default, OpenAI stores ChatGPT’s data and uses it to train future versions of the chatbot. OpenAI states that it removes personal information from the conversations used to train the technology.

People have raised several privacy concerns about how the bot stores personal information. As a result, some argued that this feature is similar to how browsers and search engines store users’ data and search history.
